In the 1970s, up-and-coming leaders like Earl Blumenauer, Vera Katz, Les AuCoin, Hardy Myers, and Gretchen & Stephen Kafoury gathered for the Democracy Forum. None were yet elected officials. Over the next generation, they built a network that helped Oregon transition from its timber-focused, small state past to a bright and diversified future. These talented folks brought visionary ideas and strong people together to move Oregon forward.

In 2006, the Bus Project hosted the Rebooting Democracy Conference, engaging hundreds of Oregonians in a lively weekend of people-powered politics. In three action-packed days, folks gathered for workshops, trainings, issue-panels, and a unique ballot measure caucus.

They soaked up sage words from the likes of Jim Hightower, David Sirota, Andrei Cherny, and Governors John Kitzhaber and Barbara Roberts.  They left itching to make change—then went out and did just that.

This January, Rebooting Democracy is back.
